Alfreð Gíslason is a Icelandic football manager and former football player. He was born on June 22, 1959 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Gíslason had a successful playing career as a midfielder, playing for clubs in Iceland, Germany, and Switzerland.
After retiring from playing, Gíslason transitioned into coaching and has managed several clubs in Iceland, including KR Reykjavik and FH Hafnarfjordur. He also served as the head coach of the Icelandic national team from 2012 to 2016.
Gíslason gained international recognition when he was appointed as the head coach of the German Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 in 2019. He is known for his tactical acumen and strong leadership skills.
In addition to his coaching career, Gíslason is also a UEFA Pro License holder and has worked as a UEFA coaching instructor.
